EZEKIEL I
CHAPTERS 1-11
INTRODUCTION
A. THE BOOK
The prophecies of Ezekiel span a period of about 22 years–from seven years before the city of Jerusalem was destroyed until about fifteen years afterward. Ezekiel lived and prophesied in Babylon during the entire period of his ministry.
Before the fall of Jerusalem, Ezekiel pleaded with God’s chosen people to repent of their sins, to stop trusting in the Egyptians for deliverance from the Babylonian yoke, and to know that the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple was inevitable.
After the fall of Jerusalem, Ezekiel soke to the exiled Jews about God’s promises of future deliverance, the restoration to their land, and the assurance of future blessings.
